On October 8, 2025, students of Sumy State University majoring in “Secondary Education (History and Civic Education)” and “History and Archeology,” as well as lecturers from the Department of History, took part in the online exhibition with excursion elements “Architectural Memory of Hlukhiv: St. Anastasia Churches in 3D.” The event was held as part of the implementation of the projects: “Hlukhiv Region Through the Centuries: A Digital Collection of Historical and Architectural Monuments” and “Hetman’s Hlukhiv Region: Digital Reconstruction of Historical Sites and Traditions.”

Interfaculty Research Seminar “History of Ukraine Is Fascinating!”
On 1 October 2025, within the framework of the interfaculty research seminar “History of Ukraine Is Fascinating!”, Associate Professor Anatolii Honcharenko, PhD in History and member of the Department of History at Sumy State University, delivered a presentation titled “The Expansionist Policy of the Russian Empire towards China in the Late 19th – Early 20th Century: The Colonial Project ‘Yellow Russia’.”
The event sparked great interest among the university’s academic staff and students, encouraging a lively discussion on historical imperial ambitions and their relevance to modern geopolitical contexts.
UNESCO Training “Memory of the World”
In 2025, Ukraine launched the project “Preservation of the Jewish Documentary Heritage of Ukraine, Commemoration of Collective Memory, Expanding Knowledge and Access to Archives, and Promoting Intercultural Dialogue”, with financial support from the European Union. The project is aimed at strengthening the preservation, accessibility, and awareness of Jewish documentary heritage in Ukraine.

Interview with a Third-Year Student of the ‘History and Archaeology’ Programme at Sumy State University, Margarita Karpenko, for the Online Magazine Tsukr
The online magazine Tsukr has published an interview with Margarita Karpenko, a third-year student of the ‘History and Archaeology’ programme at Sumy State University, who crafts vintage corsets using fabrics sourced from second-hand shops. Her personal collection comprises over 20 straw hats, a similar number of corsets, and nearly 50 dresses and skirts. Most of these garments—excluding the headwear—were sewn by Margarita herself.
