One of the oldest departments of the university. It was founded in 1962. Initially, it was called Marxism-Leninism, since 1972 – the history of the CPSU, since 1993 – Ukrainian studies, since 2001 – history, since 2014 – the theory and history of state and law. During 2016-2020, the department existed as a section of history within the Department of Constitutional Law, Theory and History of State and Law. In 2019, the bachelor’s degree specialty 032 “History and Archeology” was opened at the history section and the first set of students took place. In 2020, an independent department of history was restored.
