Interview with a Third-Year Student of the ‘History and Archaeology’ Programme at Sumy State University, Margarita Karpenko, for the Online Magazine Tsukr

The online magazine Tsukr has published an interview with Margarita Karpenko, a third-year student of the ‘History and Archaeology’ programme at Sumy State University, who crafts vintage corsets using fabrics sourced from second-hand shops. Her personal collection comprises over 20 straw hats, a similar number of corsets, and nearly 50 dresses and skirts. Most of these garments—excluding the headwear—were sewn by Margarita herself.

Her aesthetic draws on the Cottagecore style, evoking the romanticism of rural life. Her creations often feature motifs such as country cottages, watermills, autumnal landscapes, as well as deer, swans, rabbits, and hens. Some of her designs are inspired by the worlds of Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings. She uses these garments to create self-portraits or rents them out for photoshoots, during which she also acts as a photographer for her clients.
