Museum Internship for History Students of Sumy State University

As is already a tradition, students pursuing the degree in History and Archaeology at Sumy State University undertake their internship at the Sumy Regional Museum of Local Lore. Future historians gain hands-on experience in scientific cataloguing of collections, artifact attribution, exhibition development—in essence, they explore the internal workings of a museum institution.

On July 2, 2025, the museum internship began for second-year students of the Academic and Research Institute of Law at Sumy State University. The internship is supervised by the Head of the Department of History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Serhii Dehtiarov.

During the introductory online lecture, the Academic Secretary of the museum, Candidate of Historical Sciences Vira Ivanova, provided a historical overview of the institution and elaborated on its key functions and objectives. Particular attention was paid to the formation, study, and preservation of museum collections—both in times of peace and during wartime.

The program of upcoming sessions includes engagement with museum-based scholarly research, modern practices of cultural communication, and methods of protecting cultural heritage in the face of urgent threats and risks.
