A round table discussion titled “The Potebnias. The Glory of a Cossack Lineage” was held at the Romny Local History Museum of the Municipal Institution State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Posullia”. The event was dedicated to our fellow countryman Andriy Potebnia — a Ukrainian and an officer of the Tsarist army who, in 1863, joined the Polish insurgents and fought under the slogan “For Our and Your Freedom.”
The event was attended by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of History at Sumy State University, Serhii Dehtiarov.
Participants of the round table from Ukraine and Poland discussed the historical context of the mid-19th century events, the figure of Andriy Potebnia and his role in the national liberation movement, as well as issues of Ukrainian-Polish historical relations.
