On 13 April 2026, the library of Sumy State University hosted a presentation of book publications dedicated to the history of Ukrainian diplomacy. The event was conducted by Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History at Sumy State University, Valerii Mykolaiovych Vlasenko, who presented works highlighting underexplored aspects of the formation of Ukraine’s diplomatic service and the role of women within it — “Women in Official and Public Diplomacy: Essays, Papers, Interviews”, “The Female Face of Ukrainian Diplomacy: Essays, Memoirs, Interviews”, as well as the textbook “Public Diplomacy.”
All publications were issued with the support of the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations, with the assistance of Hanns Seidel Stiftung Ukraine, and form part of the publishing project “Women in Diplomacy.” The project aims to restore historical justice, return the names of women diplomats to the public sphere, and promote gender equality in contemporary diplomacy. The presented books are dedicated to women who distinguished themselves in diplomatic service during the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921 and in modern Ukraine.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Head of the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Iryna Borysivna Matiash, who served as the compiler and editor of these publications and donated copies to the library of Sumy State University. We are confident that they will find their readers among the academic staff and students of our university.
