Participation in the All-Ukrainian Online Forum “Prominent Figures of Ukraine in the Struggle for National Independence (20th – Early 21st Century)”

On 23 August, in celebration of Ukraine’s National Flag Day and on the eve of Independence Day, the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History organised an All-Ukrainian scientific and educational online forum on the topic “Prominent Figures of Ukraine in the Struggle for National Independence (20th – Early 21st Century).” This significant event brought together museum professionals, local historians, academics, and scholars from various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Donetsk, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Sumy, Lviv, and many others.

The primary goal of the forum was to discuss the role of prominent individuals in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries. Participants presented their research, shared insights, and exchanged ideas on the impact of these figures on the national revival and preservation of the state’s sovereignty.

Associate Professor Valerii Mykolaiovych Vlasenko participated in the forum with a presentation titled “Serhii Tymoshenko – Architect and Politician.” In his presentation, Vlasenko thoroughly examined the life and career of Serhii Tymoshenko, highlighting his contributions to the development of Ukrainian architecture and politics, as well as his involvement in the national liberation movement. The presentation garnered significant interest among the participants, as Serhii Tymoshenko is a key figure in the context of Ukrainian state-building.

This forum served as an important platform for discussing historical issues and the role of individual figures in shaping Ukrainian statehood. It also facilitated the strengthening of professional ties between museum and academic institutions across Ukraine, marking a crucial step in preserving national memory and promoting the country’s historical heritage.
