A series of unique books from the publishing project “Women in Diplomacy” was presented at the Sumy Regional Universal Scientific Library. The project, implemented by the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations, is dedicated to the history and present of Ukrainian diplomacy. These publications not only document facts but also reveal the “human face” of international relations through personal stories, emotions, and testimonies.
The following titles were presented to the audience:
- “The Female Face of Ukrainian Diplomacy” (Book One) – a collection of essays and interviews that uncovers lesser-known aspects of the role of women in the development of the diplomatic service.
- “Women in Official and Public Diplomacy” – a continuation of the study on the contribution of Ukrainian women to shaping a positive image of the state on the global stage.
- “Public Diplomacy” – a textbook that will be indispensable for students and scholars studying the instruments of “soft power.”
- “A Fairy Tale about Prince La-fi-Chan…” by Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna – a Ukrainian translation of a prose work by the renowned Polish poet and diplomat, combining satire on the revolutionary events of 1917 with profound philosophical reflections.
The books were presented by Valerii Vlasenko, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History at Sumy State University, member of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine, the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations, and the Sumy regional branch of the Memorial Human Rights Organization named after Vasyl Stus.
We express our gratitude to the compiler and author, Doctor of Historical Sciences Iryna Matiash, for her many years of work in preserving historical memory and promoting the figures who contributed to the formation of Ukrainian statehood.
