On April 29, 2026, a regular meeting of the Advisory Council on Cultural Heritage Protection under the Department of Culture, Tourism and Religions of the Sumy Regional State Administration took place. The meeting was attended by representatives of cultural departments from the Hlukhiv, Okhtyrka, and Romny urban territorial communities of the region.
Sumy State University is represented in the Advisory Council by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of History, Serhii Dehtiarov.
During the meeting, the council reviewed registration documentation for newly identified archaeological heritage sites included in the List of Cultural Heritage Objects of the Sumy region: the settlement “Stara Ivanivka” and hillfort settlement, as well as the hillfort “Sosonka-3” (commissioned by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Cultural Heritage Protection of the Okhtyrka City Council). In addition, passports of archaeological monuments of local significance listed in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine were considered, including: the settlement “Viktorove” (protection No. 3373-Sm) and the settlement “Peremoha 1” (protection No. 3347-Sm) (commissioned by the Department of Culture of the Hlukhiv City Council).
The discussion was held in a constructive and professional atmosphere. As a result of the meeting, it was decided to approve the registration documentation for the archaeological heritage sites and monuments, taking into account the comments of the developers, and to recommend that the Department submit relevant proposals to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
