Meeting of the Advisory Council on Cultural Heritage Protection under the Department of Culture, Tourism and Religions of the Sumy Regional State Administration

On June 3, 2026, a regular meeting of the Advisory Council on Cultural Heritage Protection under the Department of Culture, Tourism and Religions of the Sumy Regional State Administration was held.

Sumy State University is represented on the Advisory Council by Serhii Dehtiarov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of History.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed the projects entitled “Technical Documentation on Land Management for Establishing the Boundaries of Cultural Heritage Protection Zones for Archaeological Monuments of Local Significance” (which constitute part of the official heritage registration documentation), including:

  1. Burial Mound Complex No. 1 (Protection Registration No. 2576-Sm), Burial Mound Complex No. 2 (Protection Registration No. 2577-Sm), and Burial Mound Complex No. 3 (Protection Registration No. 2578-Sm) (commissioned by the Department of Culture of the Romny City Council; developed by the Private Enterprise Land Management Firm, Romny);
  2. “Banychi” Burial Mound (Protection Registration No. 3306-Sm) (commissioned by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Hlukhiv City Council; developed by Sole Proprietor O.V. Hlushchenko);
  3. “Boyarske” Hillfort (Protection Registration No. 2680-Sm) (commissioned by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Religions of the Sumy Regional State Administration; developed by Sole Proprietor Vasyl Stepanovych Kovalchuk).

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Cultural Heritage”, the above-mentioned projects have been published on the official website of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Religions of the Sumy Regional State Administration for public review and the submission of proposals and/or comments, where applicable.

In addition, the Council reviewed passports for archaeological monuments of local significance included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine, namely:

  • “Lypova Dolyna-1” Burial Mound (Protection Registration No. 3900-Sm);
  • “Beieve-1” Burial Mound Cemetery (Protection Registration No. 3905-Sm);
  • “Kuplevakha” Burial Mound (Protection Registration No. 3906-Sm).

The documentation was commissioned by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Lypova Dolyna Settlement Council and developed by Sumy State University.

The discussion was conducted in a constructive and professional atmosphere. As a result, a decision was made to approve, in accordance with the established procedure, the registration documentation for the archaeological heritage sites and monuments, taking into account the comments and recommendations expressed during the meeting.
