On November 28, 2024, the II Regional Tournament “Local Lore Treasures of Our Homeland” was held online, bringing together young experts of Sumy region. The tournament was organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Sumy Regional State Administration and the Sumy Regional Council’s Communal Institution – the Regional Center for Extracurricular Education and Work with Gifted Youth.
Participants of the tournament included students from general secondary education institutions and extracurricular education centers from Sumy, Lebedyn, Trostianets, Krolevets, Buryn, Konotop, Romny, Shostka, and Okhtyrka city councils; Yampil settlement council; Bochechkivska, Synivska, Sadivska, and Vilshanska village councils.
The participants were greeted by Viktoria Hrobova, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Sumy Regional State Administration; Yurii Nikitin, Rector of the Sumy Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education; and Nataliia Lobko, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor at the Department of History of Sumy State University.
The tournament participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge in historical and geographical local lore, as well as in art studies. All participants received certificates. The team from Syniv Lyceum of Synivska Village Council, which scored the highest number of points, was awarded the title of the best local lore experts and received the tournament’s challenge cup.
