DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY OF COURT LAW

Speech at the “Vidikon” chanel by a PhD of the academic and research institute of law

On the fourth Saturday of November, we honor the memory of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 and the mass artificial famines of 1921–1923 and 1946–1947. The greatest was the famine of 1932–1933 – it is called the genocide of the Ukrainian people, carried out by the totalitarian regime of Stalin. According to various estimates, about 5-10 million Ukrainians died then.
To date, 22 states have officially recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932–1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
In the context of this event, Anatoliy Goncharenko, associate professor of the Department of History of Sumy State University, spoke at the Vidicon TRC. The Sumy historian described the causes, course and consequences of the Holodomor of 1932–1933. A. Honcharenko also emphasized the important mission of historians to preserve the memory of this important page of Ukrainian history.
